Hide the edit when a dark object fully covers the lens or fast movement fills the frame. Viewers may read the joined shots as one continuous take.

Butt the shots together on the frame where the occlusion is complete, then match movement, exposure, and framing in the next shot. This can join several shots into one apparently uninterrupted move.

Unlike a true long take, it is a join between shots with the edit concealed. If the occluder or motion does not line up, the cut becomes more noticeable, so inspect the frames around the join.

When to use

Use it to make a complex camera move feel continuous or quietly change locations. Match the occluder's speed and coverage across the join.
