Turn a tripod head from side to side and the view sweeps across the landscape outside a window. A pan is a horizontal rotation from a fixed camera position.

Set the start and end angles, then keyframe the pan head or virtual camera's yaw. For a simple screen illustration, move the landscape opposite the camera's turn.

A pan differs from a tracking shot, where the camera physically travels beside a subject. Keep the speed steady and leave room to ease into and out of the move.

When to use

Use it to reveal a wide location or follow a stationary viewpoint across a subject. A very fast pan can make direction hard to read.
