A camera can travel down a hallway while the horizon stays level and the move feels smooth. Steadicam refers to a body-worn support system and the way it helps keep walking motion from passing directly into the image.

The operator wears a balanced support rig and guides the camera. A screen demo can pair a moving camera on a route with a horizon that remains steady.

Handheld footage keeps small hand movements; a Steadicam move travels while reducing shake. Smooth support does not remove every sharp turn or footstep impact.

When to use

Use it for a long follow or a walk into a space. Even a smooth move needs to match the subject's pace and direction.
